Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) are not new to education, yet at times the application of the framework to the Physical Education (PE) profession can be clunky. This session dives into the PLC framework and applies it to the three domains considered standard in Physical Education pedagogy: psychomotor, cognitive and affective. This session is delivered from the perspective of a current building administrator and former physical education teacher using tested practices that will leave the attendees with actionable items for immediate use.
While the amount of time making up one day is fixed there are numerous factors impacting on how the activities of the day are spent. This session uses current research to explore the components of the 24-hour activity cycle and how those components relate to health and wellbeing. Most interesting is most of these components can be assessed and monitored using readily available wearable technology.
This year re-establishes the Illinois fitness testing legislative data submission requirement with fitness testing data being submitted to the Illinois State Board of Education. While fitness testing is a routine part of PE programs, test administration, protocols, and results are often considered to suspect. Learn how to get more out of this process and make it meaningful.
